Rosalita House

The House

Rosalita is a stunning, palatial, beachfront villa in Harbour Island, a paradisal strip of beach northeast of Eleuthera, where cars are forbidden and the sands are pink. With six bedrooms that sleep twelve, a pool, terraces, gardens, gym, beachfront and ocean views, Rosalita is the perfect vacation rental for families, friends and destination wedding guests. Situated at the end of a small laneway, nestled on two sides into a hillside and commanding a 25 foot high dune along its beachfront, Rosalita offers its guests complete privacy.

Rosalita comes with a chef and his assistant, a house manager, 3 butlers, 3 housekeepers, 3 garden / beach maintenance employees, and a security guard at night.

The Experience

Rosalita House and Harbour Island offer activities for the whole family to enjoy, both on-site and around the island. The island’s main features — including Pink Sands beach, Dunmore Town, and some of the finest restaurants in the Bahamas, such as The Landing, Queen Conch, Sip-Sip, The Dunmore and the Rock House, are an easy walk or golf cart ride from Rosalita House. Our house manager can also arrange all reservations or excursions for you off the island, such as fishing, island hopping, snorkelling, diving and more.

Onsite Activites

BEACH, POOL & ENTERTAINMENT

Each day beach chairs and loungers with umbrellas will be placed on the beach for your use. We have a large selection of paddle boards, kayaks, beach bikes, snorkel equipment and floating aides, as well as beach toys such as paddle ball, frisbee, and volleyball.

The pool bar has a backgammon table, checkerboard, and a large selection of board games. Many different inflatables, floating loungers, and swim equipment are available for the pool or beach as well. Up at the main house on the downstairs verandah is our brand-new shuffleboard table.

FITNESS CENTER

Our fitness center contains a Peloton spin bike and shoe collection, and is connected to access NYC live or taped spin classes. It also contains weights, bands, yoga blocks and yoga mats. Sand bikes are also available for training on the beach.

Our house manager can arrange on-site personal training or yoga/pilates classes at your discretion. For this, prior notice is required.

On the Island

Harbour Island, known locally as “Briland”, is known for its three-mile pink sand beach, pastel British-colonial cottages enveloped in bougainvillea and easy pace.

There are many activities to enjoy both on and off the island, including horseback riding, fishing, snorkelling/diving, watersports, sightseeing tours, spa, shopping, nightlife and more.

Whether you want to spend your days exploring everything the island has to offer, or dozing in the sunshine on a private beach while island hopping, our staff will be happy to help you create your perfect experience.

BOATING

Our boat — “PrimeTime” — is a 32 foot Jupiter operated by Captain Ganton and is available for your use during your stay. You will only pay for gas consumed. It’s best to work with our house manager Janette and Captain Ganton to find the best days during your stay based on weather and winds. The nearby waters and many islands are beautiful. We can almost always find a nearly empty island for a picnic and a swim in a calm cove. We also recommend turtle feeding (children of all ages love it!), a sunset cruise or just a bit of pleasant sightseeing. For a unique day, ask if the tides and winds are cooperating for a visit to the sand bar. It’s special and unique. Of course, we can also take you fishing — just ask.

Our Story

The owners discovered Harbour Island in 2014, and immediately fell in love with the people and the beach. The island felt like a home away from home, so they decided to build Rosalita House, and set down some roots on this Caribbean gem.

The family enjoys being part of the vibrant community, participating in local culture and helping with various projects and needs on the island.

Our History

Rosalita House was founded on the site of what had been an original cottage owned by NY publishers, built in the early 60’s and sadly destroyed by Hurricane Andrew. The area is called Juicy Hill and was the first “subdivision” on the island.

Clem Bruns Schaub of Florida was the Architect, inspiration for the design came from the homes designed by Oliver Messel – homes long admired by the owners. Driving the interiors was the desire to have every room open to the outside, so that the indoor and outdoor spaces would merge and blend seamlessly.

The house is enjoyed today by the owners large and growing family, who have found a home away from home at Rosalita House on Harbour Island. The name was inspired by the Bruce Springsteen song “Rosalita”.
